Desolation Sound
Sailing in Desolation Sound is considered to be one of the best experiences in the world, with its calm and protected waters, numerous inlets and coves, and stunning vistas. The area's natural beauty is characterized by rugged mountain peaks, clear turquoise waters, and lush forests, providing sailors with an unparalleled sense of peace and tranquility.
Wildlife is abundant in Desolation Sound, with various species of marine mammals, including seals, sea lions, and whales, as well as numerous bird species such as bald eagles, ospreys, and herons. The marine life in the area is equally diverse, with an array of fish species, including salmon, halibut, and cod, making it a popular destination for recreational fishing.
Indigenous cultures have long inhabited the area, and their rich heritage is evident in the many artifacts and historic sites that can be found throughout the region. The Klahoose First Nation, for example, has been living in the Desolation Sound area for thousands of years and continues to practice traditional fishing and cultural activities, such as carving, weaving, and storytelling.

Sail with us to where civilization gradually fades astern. Northwest is where we're headed, underneath a golden sky as we begin to get a taste of the wilder side of the North American coast. Natural Hot Springs, 10,000 yr old protected First Nation villages, ancient totem poles, pods of leaping dolphins, Orcas, Humpbacks, Bears, Rain Wolves. These are just some of the highlights on our farthest north tour. This is a true adventure, but with all the creature comforts and safety we've developed from over 20 years of experience with this route.
We pass north through the Inside Passage roughly retracing the route that Captain George Vancouver did in 1792. Much of the area looks the same now as it did then.
